I can not wait to become a nurse so I signed up for CNA classes this summer to become a certified nursing assistant. Once the patient enters the nursing home, it is the CNA responsibility to take care of the patient's daily life. They need to help the patient eat, help them shave, help them bath. However, being a CNA was harder than I thought it would be. When I was doing the training in the long term care home, some of the patients grabbed and pulled your hair. They scream for the whole day. They will poop when they are bathing. Sometimes CNAs need to help clean and prepare the patient's body if they have passed away. I asked one of the senior CNA how she can be a CNA because the nursing home patients are not your family and you take care of them for everything. Yes, they are not her family so she takes care of them as if they are a baby.
Yes, they are very innocent. I want them to remember how beautiful this world is and bring my lovely smile with them. Because you don’t know when it will be their last day in this world. One of the nurses I know has shared that she has created a “bucket of wishes” for her patients, so that they will be hopeful. I have experienced this nursing profession and I understand how hard it will be. The nursing profession is not about academics or knowledge, but it is about your commitment and love towards your patients. It is a tough but meaningful profession!
