When I was a child, I wanted to become Florence Nightingale. She wears a nurse white dress and hat working gently with the patients. In my mind, only a female can be a nurse. When I grow up and become the volunteer in the hospital, I discovered not only were female nurses coming in and out of the ward, I also saw many male nurses. They are tall and strong, making it easier for patients to turn over and get up. When you can't move on your own, even if the hospital bed can be operated up and down, you can't easily move yourself under the bed. The male nurses are different. They are tall, strong, and with their encouraging smiles. They hold the patients steadily with their strong and reliable arms .
I talked to one of the male RN and his name is John. He always smiles at his patients. He likes his job so much. I guess he has been doing RN for 5 or 6 years. But told me that he has been working for 12 years! He replied “Nursing is one of the most professionally, personally, and spiritually rewarding careers there is. I also love the pride I feel in my work. Being a nurse is one of the most challenging jobs someone could do. Sometimes, it's the little things that you do for your patient that make a difference. The patients and families will remember your warm smile, your gentle touch, the knowledge you shared, and the fact that you cared for them. No matter how long it has been, a patient remembers their nurse. They may or may not remember the nurse’s name, but they remember if they were kind and compassionate. A good nurse always is. It’s physically and mentally demanding at times. However, at the end of the day, you feel amazing satisfaction and pride".
