One day I was in a hurry to catch up with school and didn't eat breakfast. The night before, I didn't go to bed until two or three o'clock because of my homework. I had an empty stomach and not enough sleep. As a result, I was in the first class in school with a pale face and white lips. Oh no, I was about to faint! So the teacher asked the student company with me to go to the school nurse's office. The nurse's office feels like a practice clinic and an office mixture. There is some simple medical equipment inside, just like going to the doctor. The special thing is that there is a long sofa bed where uncomfortable students can lie down. Regarding my situation at that time, the nurse asked me several questions, and then gave me some biscuits and hot chocolate. After eating, I regained my strength and felt comfortable, and then returned to the classroom to go to class.
In addition to taking care of students' health conditions, school nurses also pay attention to the emotional and psychological needs of them. I know a school nurse sister who is very sweet and nice. She said “I will take the time to have one on one discussions with students each week. I will set aside time to talk to students about their health and self-care goals. I will follow up with the student progress twice per year.”
Furthermore, school nurses provide health education to students, staff and parents. Healthy activities and environments will also be provided to school staff. The student provides a safe and healthy environment for the entire school. Everyone who needs health and they need a school nurse. Thank you, our Student Nurse!
